I have been always work at IQC department at VCD or DVD industry since college graduation,But I worked as a IQC engineer at a making household electrical appliance such as coffeemaker, breadmaker, grinder etc manafactory first time last year,So I was always facing with a lot of unfamiliar stds such as new safety standard ,including other troubles and so on.For example, the safty standard for coffeemaker is UL1082 including a item as below," the power cord is clamped in the appliance ,but the power cord can withstand 35 lb pullout force for one minute without the any replacement of copper conductors",but I inquired and referrd some power cord manufacturing stds like UL62,it is the only standard for the part of ul power cord but no mention the pullout force test like UL1082.So at first I was puzzled between them when I was writing the receiving inspection plan on ul power cord and did not adapt which std .But finally I got a idea that I must adapt the ul1082 std to monitor the incoming power cord for our procuction coffeemaker must comply with basic safety std (UL1082), so I quoted the pullout force test as ul1082 on work instruction (RIP) for ul power cord and my boss agreed and approved. But the pullout force test for the incoming power cord was failure when the inspector was inspecting ,and I asked that vendor what the cause was .but that vendor explained that their power cord was okay and could comply with ul62 standard . End Dec of 2008 the imagined conflict occured finally, both sides seemed to be reasonable, So this isstill not solved up to ater Spring Festival ,but I myself thought the vendor was little unreasonable for we sold the whole household appliance also including that power cord ,so the power cord must be subjected to the ul1082 std. but I do not understand that why the ul1082 and ul62 are respectively deviation for both them belong to ul standard ?my dear colleagues,do you have the same similar experience ? how do you to deal with?could you please advise on that ? thanks in advance! |
